Courses Descriptions

BACWWE courses prepare students for many different features of the water/wastewater industry, including water and wastewater treatment, wastewater collection systems, water distribution systems, water conservation, and the basic scientific concepts underlying all of these.

BACWWE courses and books are available at no charge to students. Students must email, bacwwe@solano.edu and request courses (Please be sure to include CRN and SCC ID#).

Solano Water/Wastewater courses are available to BACWWE students to accelerate requirements for degrees, certificates, and certifications. Students must pay for courses and books, and register for Solano Water/Wastewater courses at My.Solano.edu

WATR 100 - Wasterwater Treatment I
Course Advisory: SCC minimum English and Math standards. Hours: 64-72 lecture. Study of municipal and industrial wastewater collection and wastewater treatment methods, protection of ground water and receiving waters, and effects of pollutants on receiving waters.

WATR 101 - Basic Chemistry for Water and Wastewater
Course Advisory: SCC minimum English and Math standards. Hours: 64-72 lecture. Through lecture and demonstrations, the student will develop the ability to analyze and determine if proper levels of purification, content of acidity, alkalinity, hardness, and other water quality criteria have been achieved for water or wastewater treatment.

WATR 104 - Wasterwater Treatment I
Course Advisory SCC minimum English and Math standards. Hours: 48-54 lecture. This course examines the elementary engineering aspects of the design, operation, process control, and facilities of a plant designed to treat and purify drinking water.

WATR 106 - Instrumentation and Controls

Course Advisory: SCC minimum English and Math standards. Hours: 48-54 lecture. Study of pneumatic, mechanical and electronic control systems and components. Includes a basic description and explanation of the operation of instruments and controls for water and wastewater plants. Typical performance characteristics, accuracy, and applications of instruments are studied.
